Helping local microbusinesses through collaboration

Portland, Oregon, June 23, 2008 — Semiosis Communications is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Mercy Corps Northwest. As Mercy Corps International’ local development office, Mercy Corps Northwest assists low-income individuals in the greater Portland metro region to increase their economic self-sufficiency through microenterprise and self-employment. Mercy Corps Nortwest provides several business development resources, including loan and grant programs, business planning courses, and technical assistance.

Semiosis Communications has teamed with Mercy Corps Northwest to offer monthly seminars focused on creating effective marketing strategies with limited resources. Seminars are $5 for Mercy Corps NW clients, and $10 for community members. All proceeds benefit Mercy Corps Northwest programs.

The collaboration is a win-win to everyone. “[Semiosis Communications'] seminars address the spectrum of marketing needs of Mercy Corps Nortwest’s clients who are starting their own businesses,” said Sarah Chenven, Community Development Manager at Mercy Corps Northwest. “Peter has helped our clients and the community at large understand that critical area of business development from both a broad and more detailed perspective. Semiosis Communications fills a critical niche for small [socially responsible] businesses and nonprofits. Mercy Corps Northwest is honored and privileged to work with Peter Korchnak and Semiosis Communications.”
