“Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul.” — Henry Ward Beecher

I started my company, Semiosis Communications, less than a year ago, in January 2008. Every day of the journey since then, I’ve been counting the blessing of having wonderful people around me. What better day to speak out in appreciation than a holiday called “Thanksgiving”. Here goes:
- Thank you, Lindsay, for your unending support, for your endless patience, for your honest advice, for your selfless generosity in sharing our home with my business, for everything.
- Thank you, Andrea Korsen, for all your help and advice with my accounting.
- Thank you, Heather Schiffke of Cameron Design, for a fantastic job on my company’s visual identity. Thank you, Janey Greenlees of Alphagraphics Hillsboro, for finding the greenest way possible to print my collateral.
- Thank you, Seth Miller of Spirit Alchemy Design, for a great job on building my website and blog.
- Thank you, Erin Watson, coach Bill, and Sherwood “Green” Wild, for welcoming me to the hockey team, for the skate, for the head up and stick on the ice, for Canadian humo(u)r, and for teaching me a new way of looking at team work and strategy. The game is, indeed, played in one’s head.
- Thank you, clients, past, present, and future, the most awesome nonprofits and sustainable businesses, for welcoming me into your community, for becoming part of my community, and for the opportunity to work with you. I’m honored to be a companion on your journey!
- Thank you, everyone I’ve talked to about your nonprofit or business, for the opportunity to learn more about what you and your socially responsible organizations do every day make this world a better place.
- Thank you, Lisa Helderop, for generously sharing your time and expertise to take my media strategy skill to the next level.
- Thank you, Mark Goren, Valeria Maltoni, Michelle Lawson, Drew McLellan, Amber Naslund, Sophia Jason, Nancy L., Ryan Rasmussen and Andy Angelos for your comments on my young blog, for getting in touch, for reaching out and welcoming me in the blogosphere, and for generous advice about social media, personal or on your respective blogs. Keep on blogging in the free world!
- Thank you, everyone who has come to a Meetup of the Socially Responsible Business Group, for making it happen.
- Thank you, everyone who attended one of my seminars and workshops at CubeSpace or Mercy Corps Northwest, for coming, sharing your experience, and your feedback, which made each presentation better than the previous one. Thank you, Eva Schweber and David Kominsky, for welcoming me in CubeSpace. Thank you, Sarah Chenven and everyone else at Mercy Corps Northwest, for the opportunity.
- Thank you, all my LinkedIn connections, for being a part of my community.
- Thank you, Seth Godin, for the fez-donning crouching monkey you raise so high above your non-clickable action-figure head.
- Thank you, Bridges and all the members, for the best networking group ever.
- Thank you, everyone in my referral network. Honored to be a part of yours.
- Thank you, everyone I failed to mention. I am grateful for you.
- Thank you, family!
- Thank you, Portland. Thank you, Oregon. Thank you, United States of America. Thank you, world.
- Thank you.

Peter: Thank you for the thank you! I remember when I started blogging two years ago, if it wasn’t for the warm and smart people who supported me, I wouldn’t have found my way as quickly as I did. This is an incredibly generous space we’re all in, one where it’s so important to give back and help others.
All the best to you. Enjoy the holiday!
Peter,
You do a fantastic job of being yourself and reaching out. I was delighted to find such a fresh voice and good ideas here and am thankful you put the time into sharing them with us.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your readers. Keep up the great work!
